Trade old laptop in for cash?
I have a new laptop now, wondering if there are any companies out there that basically buy these 2nd hand laptops for cash? I have heard of a few scheme’s but I want a company that can be trusted, and that will actually pay me!

If there are companies out there that do this, and I’m not aware of any, then you’ll more than likely get pittance for the laptop as they’ll want to refurbish it and sell it on at a profit.
Your best bet is to try and reset the laptop back to factory defaults (see if you can find the original restore disks that came with it) and then sell it on ebay. At least then it’ll be reused and you’ll get a half decent price.
The only thing to be wary of is the data on your hard disk. Be sure to take every effort to wipe it clean before selling it on anywhere as the last thing you want is some lowlife stealing your ID.
If you’re paranoid, and depending on the age of the old laptop, you could replace the HDD with a cheap new one, and then sell the laptop on without any concerns.
Otherwise, it might be worthwhile selling it for parts on ebay – again, it depends how recent the laptop is and whether there are a lot out there.
